Description
Metzgeria polytricha (also called Polytrich Metzgeria, among many other common names) is a small, yellow-green, glossy liverwort. It is native to North America, Europe, and Asia, and is found in moist, shady habitats such as woodlands, forests and grasslands.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Metzgeria polytricha has small, white flowers with a single perianth lobe. The seed is small and black, and the seedlings are small and heart-shaped.
Cultivation and Propagation
Metzgeria polytricha can be propagated by division of the plant in spring or autumn. It prefers a moist, humus-rich, acidic soil in partial shade. It is best grown in a sheltered spot in a rock garden or woodland garden.
