Description
Monochaetum calcaratum (also called 'Calcarate Monochaetum' and 'Calcarate Melastome', among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the family Melastomataceae. It is a shrub or small tree, reaching up to 8 m in height. It is native to the Caribbean, Central America, and northern South America. It is found in tropical and subtropical moist lowland forests.
