Description
Miconia baillonii (also called the Baillon's miconia, among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant. It is native to tropical regions of the world, including Africa, India, and Southeast Asia, and prefers moist, shady habitats such as forests and woodlands.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Miconia baillonii has small, white flowers with five petals and yellow anthers. The seeds are small, black and round. The seedlings have two cotyledons and the first true leaves are opposite and simple.
Cultivation and Propagation
Miconia baillonii is a perennial plant that is best grown in well-drained soil. It can be propagated by division or by seed. It is best to sow the seeds in a moist, sterile soil mix and keep the soil moist until germination occurs. Once the seedlings have emerged, they should be transplanted into individual containers and given plenty of light and water.
