Huperzia heterocarpon is a slow-growing, shade-tolerant fern that can be propagated from spores or division. It prefers partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. It can be grown in a variety of soils, including sandy and clay soils. It is tolerant of salt and can be grown in coastal areas. Spores should be sown in a warm, moist soil and kept moist until germination. Divisions should be taken from mature, healthy plants and planted in a well-drained soil. They should be kept moist until they are established.
