Description

Mentzelia ornata (also called Ornate Blazing Star, among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the family Loasaceae. It is native to western North America, from British Columbia to California and east to the Dakotas and Texas. It is an annual or biennial plant with a basal rosette of leaves and a tall, branched stem that can reach up to 1.5 meters in height. The flowers are yellow and have five petals.
