Description
Leucobryum gracile (also called Slender Moss, among many other common names) is an evergreen, perennial moss that grows in clumps or mats. It has a yellowish-green color and a soft texture. It is native to North America, Europe, and Asia, and prefers moist, shady habitats.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Leucobryum gracile has small, white flowers with six petals. The seeds are small, dark brown and oval-shaped. The seedlings are small and have a single leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Leucobryum gracile can be propagated by division of the clumps in early spring or by spore sowing. Cultivation is best in a moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil in partial shade. It is tolerant of full sun if the soil is kept moist.
