Description
Utricularia chrysantha (also called 'Golden Bladderwort', among many other common names) is a small, perennial, aquatic carnivorous plant. It is native to South America, where it is found in wet, sandy soils in open areas. It has small, delicate, light green leaves and small, bright yellow flowers. It is found in shallow, still water, such as ponds, marshes, and streams.
Cultivation and Propagation
Utricularia chrysantha can be propagated by division or by seed. When propagating by division, the plant should be divided into sections that have at least one growing point. The divided sections should then be planted in moist soil and kept in a warm, humid environment. When propagating by seed, the seeds should be sown on the surface of moist soil and kept in a warm, humid environment. The seeds should germinate within a few weeks.
Where to Find Utricularia chrysantha
Utricularia chrysantha is found in wet meadows, marshes, bogs, and wet woods in tropical Asia and Africa.
