Description
Utricularia caerulea (also called blue bladderwort, among many other common names) is a small, perennial, aquatic carnivorous plant native to the eastern United States. It has small, blue flowers and small, bladder-like traps. It grows in shallow, slow-moving streams and marshes.

Utricularia caerulea has small, white flowers with yellow or purple spots. The seeds are small, black and round. The seedlings are small and have a single pair of leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Utricularia caerulea is a slow-growing evergreen shrub. It can be propagated by division of the rootball in spring or early summer. It can also be propagated from seed, which should be sown in a cold frame in spring. Cuttings of half-ripe wood can be taken in summer.
