Uses & Benefits
Dracocephalum thymiflorum is used as an ornamental plant in gardens, as it produces attractive purple flowers. It is also used as an ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Dracocephalum thymiflorum has small white flowers with yellow centers and a sweet scent. The seeds are small and black, and the seedlings have small, oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Dracocephalum thymiflorum is a hardy perennial that is easy to propagate from seed. Sow the seeds in early spring in a well-drained soil. The plants will reach a height of about 1-2 feet and will bloom in mid-summer. Deadhead the flowers to encourage more blooms. The plants can be divided in the spring or fall.
