Description
Isoetes ovata (also called Oval Quillwort, among many other common names) is a species of fern in the Isoetaceae family. It is a terrestrial fern with long, creeping rhizomes and fronds up to 60 cm long. It is native to Mexico and Central America. It grows in moist, shady places, such as along streams, in ravines, and in forests.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Isoetes ovata has small, yellowish-green flowers and produces small, black seeds. Its seedlings are small, dark green and have short, pointed leaves.
