                        Cultivation and Propagation

Ribes rubrum is a deciduous shrub that is native to Europe. It grows best in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. Propagation is best done by softwood cuttings taken in the spring or early summer. The cuttings should be taken from new growth and placed in a moist medium such as sand or vermiculite. Rooting hormone can be applied to the cuttings to encourage root development.
