Description
Frullania teneriffae (also called Common Shield-moss, among many other common names) is a species of liverwort in the Plagiochilaceae family. It is a small, yellow-green plant with a thalloid body and a smooth, glossy surface. It is native to Europe, Asia, and North America, and is found in moist, shady habitats.
Uses & Benefits
Frullania teneriffae has been used in traditional medicine as a diuretic, for the treatment of kidney stones, and as a remedy for fever and rheumatism. It has also been used as a food preservative and as a dye.

Frullania teneriffae has small, yellowish-green flowers that are usually found in clusters. The seeds are small, round, and black. The seedlings are small and have a single, heart-shaped leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Frullania teneriffae can be propagated by division of the plant, or by sowing spores. Cultivation requires a moist, shaded environment, with temperatures between 15-25°C. The plant prefers a soil with a pH of 4.5-6.5, with a high organic content.
