Description
Frullania rhytidantha (also called 'Rhytidanthe Frullania', among many other common names) is a species of liverwort native to Europe and North Africa. It is a small, yellow-green plant with a thallus that is divided into small, rounded lobes. It grows in moist, shady habitats, often on the bark of trees.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Frullania rhytidantha flowers are small and inconspicuous, usually greenish and yellowish in color. The seeds are small, yellowish-brown, and have a short, thin, papery covering. Seedlings are small and have a single, large, kidney-shaped leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Frullania rhytidantha is a liverwort that can be propagated by spores or by division of the thallus. It prefers moist, shady areas and can be grown in a shallow dish of water. It can also be grown in a terrarium or aquarium with other aquatic plants. The thallus should be kept moist and should not be allowed to dry out. Spores should be sown on a moist substrate and kept in a humid environment.
