Description
Frullania pachyderma (also called 'Thick-leaved Liverwort', among many other common names) is a small, perennial, evergreen liverwort found in the Northern Hemisphere. It has a creeping rhizome and a single frond with a single vein and a single sorus. It is found in moist meadows, grassy banks, and damp woods in Europe, Asia, and North America.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Frullania pachyderma has small, yellow-green flowers with four petals. Its seeds are small and black, and its seedlings are small and oval-shaped.
Cultivation and Propagation
Frullania pachyderma can be propagated by spores or by division of the plant. Cultivation is best done in a moist, shaded environment with a pH of 4.5-6.5. It prefers a substrate of soil, sand, and peat moss.
