Description
Frullania jovetiana (also called Jovet's Frullania, among many other common names) is a small, perennial, evergreen liverwort with a creeping stem and a rosette of leaves. It is native to tropical Asia, from India to the Philippines, and it grows in moist, shady places such as in forests, along streams, and in moist rock crevices.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Frullania jovetiana has small, yellowish-green flowers, with a single ovary and three stamens. The seeds are small, round and black. The seedlings are small, with a single, oval-shaped leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Frullania jovetiana can be propagated by division of the plant or by spore sowing. Cultivation is best done in a moist, shady environment with a pH of 5.5-6.5. It prefers a soil that is rich in organic matter and well-drained.
