Description

Fontinalis hypnoides (also called Hypnum Water Moss, among many other common names) is a species of aquatic moss found in North America. It is a small, greenish-brown plant with a creeping stem and small, pointed leaves. It is native to the eastern United States and Canada, and is found in slow-moving streams and rivers, as well as in still, shallow waters.
