Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Fissidens brevidorsus has small, yellow-green flowers that are clustered in the axils of the leaves. The seeds are small and black, and the seedlings are slender and have long, narrow leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Fissidens brevidorsus is a small, tufted moss that grows in moist, shady areas. It can be propagated by division or by spores. The best time to divide the plant is in the spring or early summer when the plants are actively growing. For spore propagation, the spores should be sown on a moist, sterile medium and kept in a warm, humid environment. The spores will germinate in about two weeks.
