It is native to western and central Europe, from Spain to the Baltic states. It is found in dry, open habitats such as heaths, sand dunes, and rocky hillsides.

The flowers of Ulex salzmanni are small, yellow, and fragrant. The seeds are small and round, and the seedlings are slender and have a long taproot.
Cultivation and Propagation
Ulex salzmanni is a hardy perennial that is easy to propagate from cuttings. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Take cuttings in late spring or early summer and root them in a moist medium. Plant the rooted cuttings in the garden in early fall. The plant will bloom in late spring or early summer and will self-seed if left to go to seed.
