Description
Erythrococca anomala (also called Anomalous Ironwood, among many other common names) is a small evergreen shrub native to tropical Africa. It has small, leathery, dark green leaves and produces small, white flowers in late spring. It grows in dry, rocky soils in scrub and chaparral habitats.
Uses & Benefits
Erythrococca anomala is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and as a houseplant. It is known for its attractive foliage and its ability to thrive in low light conditions.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Erythrococca anomala has small white flowers with a yellow centre, and its seeds are small and black. The seedlings are small and thin.
Cultivation and Propagation
Erythrococca anomala can be propagated by seed or cuttings. Seeds should be sown in a well-drained, sandy soil and kept moist. Cuttings should be taken from healthy, mature plants and planted in a well-drained, sandy soil. Keep the soil moist and provide plenty of light. Both methods require warm temperatures and plenty of light for successful propagation.
Where to Find Erythrococca anomala
Erythrococca anomala can be found in the tropical rainforests of West Africa, from Sierra Leone to Cameroon.
