Description
Sloanea robusta (also called Robusta, among many other common names) is a small tree or shrub found in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. It has a straight trunk, with a grayish-brown bark, and a dense, round crown. It grows in humid, shady areas, and prefers moist, well-drained soils.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Sloanea robusta is white, with a yellow center and a bell-shaped form. The seed is a small, black, round seed, and the seedlings are small, dark green, and have a single, long stem.
Cultivation and Propagation
Sloanea robusta is a fast-growing, evergreen tree that can reach up to 30 m in height. It is best propagated from seed, which should be sown in a warm, moist environment. The seedlings should be transplanted when they are about 15 cm tall. It is also possible to propagate the tree from cuttings, although this is more difficult and less successful.
Where to Find Sloanea robusta
