Description
Elaeocarpus nodosus (also called Knobby Elaeocarpus, among many other common names) is a small to medium-sized tree, growing up to 15 m tall. It is native to tropical and subtropical regions of India, Sri Lanka, southern China, Thailand, and Vietnam. It is found in evergreen and semi-evergreen forests, as well as in dry deciduous forests.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flowers of Elaeocarpus nodosus are small, white and bell-shaped. The seeds are small and round, with a hard outer shell. The seedlings are small and delicate, with light green leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Elaeocarpus nodosus is an evergreen tree, usually growing to a height of 10-15 m. It prefers a sunny position in a well-drained soil. Propagation is usually by seed, which should be sown in spring in a warm, sunny position. It can also be propagated from cuttings.
