Diospyros papuana (also called Black Ebony, among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the Ebenaceae family. It is native to New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. It is a medium-sized tree that grows up to 20 meters tall and has a dark gray bark. It is found in tropical and subtropical forests, as well as in dry deciduous forests.
