Description
Leptotrichella acutidentata (also called Sharp-toothed Slender-leaved Moss, among many other common names) is a small moss species with a slender leafy stem and small, ovate-lanceolate leaves. It is native to Africa, and is found in moist habitats, such as on rocks, soil, and tree trunks.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Leptotrichella acutidentata has small, yellow-green flowers that appear in clusters at the tips of the stems. The seeds are small, black and oval-shaped. The seedlings are small and green.
Cultivation and Propagation
Leptotrichella acutidentata can be propagated by division of the rhizomes, or by seed. It prefers moist, well-drained soils in full sun or partial shade. It is hardy to USDA zones 5-9.
