Description
Dicranum acutifolium (also called White-tipped Fork-moss, among many other common names) is a species of moss found in the Northern Hemisphere. It is a small, tufted moss with erect, simple or branched stems and white-tipped leaves. It is native to North America, Europe, and Asia, and can be found in moist, shady habitats.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Dicranum acutifolium has small, yellowish-green flowers, with a seed capsule containing two to four seeds. The seedlings are small, with a single, narrow leaf and a short stem.
Cultivation and Propagation
Dicranum acutifolium can be propagated by division or by spore sowing. It prefers moist, well-drained soil and partial shade. It is best grown in an acidic soil and is tolerant of drought. It can be grown in full sun, but may require more frequent watering.
