Description
Leskeodon philippinensis (also called Philippine Leskeodon, among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae. It is native to the Andes of Peru and Bolivia. It is found in montane grasslands and shrublands at elevations of 3,000–4,000 m.
Uses & Benefits
Leskeodon philippinensis is used as a ground cover in gardens and as an ornamental plant in rock gardens. It is also used to control erosion on slopes and in landscaping.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Leskeodon philippinensis has small, white flowers with yellow centers. The seeds are small, black and round. The seedlings are small and delicate.
Cultivation and Propagation
Leskeodon philippinensis is a species of moss that can be propagated by spores or division. It prefers moist, shady locations and can be grown in a variety of soils. It is best propagated by division, as this will ensure that the moss will stay in the same spot and not spread out. Spores can also be used, but they tend to take longer to germinate and establish. Once established, Leskeodon philippinensis requires minimal maintenance and can tolerate a range of temperatures and light levels.
