                            Carex straminiformis (also called Straw-like Sedge, among many other common names) is a perennial sedge native to North America, Europe, and Asia. It typically grows in moist, shady areas such as wet meadows, swamps, and stream banks.                             The flower of Carex straminiformis is a small, greenish-brown spikelet, with a single female flower at the tip. The seed is a small, dark brown, triangular nutlet.                         Cultivation and Propagation
                        
                            Carex straminiformis can be propagated by division or by seed. It prefers moist, well-drained soils and full sun to partial shade. It is tolerant of a wide range of soil pH and can be grown in clay, loam, sand, or gravel. It is drought tolerant once established.
