Carex caryophyllea is a perennial sedge that grows in moist to wet soils in full sun to partial shade. It can be propagated by division, seed, or cuttings. Division is the easiest and most successful method of propagation. The plants can be divided in the spring or fall. Seeds should be sown in the fall or spring in a moist, well-drained soil. Cuttings can be taken in the spring or summer and rooted in a moist soil.
