Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Carex brunnescens has small, greenish-brown flowers that are borne in dense clusters. The seeds are small and black, and the seedlings are slender and light green in color.
Cultivation and Propagation
Carex brunnescens can be propagated from seed or division. Seeds should be sown in a cold frame in the spring and the seedlings transplanted to their permanent positions in late spring or early summer. Division should be carried out in the spring or autumn. Larger clumps can be replanted direct into their permanent positions, though it is best to pot up smaller clumps and grow them on in a cold frame until they are rooting well. Plant them out in late spring or early summer.
Where to Find Carex brunnescens
Carex brunnescens can be found in wet grasslands and marshes in India, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.
