Description
Carex biharica (also called Indian Sedge, among many other common names) is a perennial sedge species found in India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Myanmar. It grows in moist grasslands, wet meadows, and along streams and rivers. It has long, narrow leaves and a flowering stem that can reach up to 1m in height.

Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Carex biharica has a small, yellowish flower with three stamens and a three-lobed pistil. The seed is a small, dark brown nutlet, and the seedlings are small, grass-like plants.
Cultivation and Propagation
Carex biharica can be propagated by division or by seed. Division is best done in spring or early summer. Seeds should be sown in a cold frame in spring. When large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in the summer.
