Description
Sphaeropteris atrox (also called Giant Tree Fern, among many other common names) is a species of tree fern native to Central America and South America. It grows in humid forest habitats, usually in areas with high rainfall and temperatures of 15-25°C.

The flower of Sphaeropteris atrox is a small, yellowish-green flower with a single petal. The seed is a small, black, round seed. The seedlings are small, dark green, and have a single, long, narrow leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Sphaeropteris atrox can be propagated from spores or division of the rhizome. It prefers moist, well-drained soil in a partially shaded position. It is hardy to -5°C (23°F) and can tolerate temperatures down to -10°C (14°F).
