Description
Cyathea universitatis (also called University Tree Fern, among many other common names) is a species of tree fern native to Central America and South America. It grows in humid forest habitats, usually in areas with high rainfall and temperatures of 15-25°C.

Cyathea universitatis has small, yellowish-brown flowers that are clustered in the axils of the leaves. The seeds are small, dark brown and glossy. The seedlings have two or three long, narrow leaves that are curved or twisted.
