Description
Alsophila lepifera (also called Lepifera Tree Fern, among many other common names) is a species of fern in the family Cyatheaceae. It is native to tropical and subtropical regions of the world, including parts of Asia, Africa, and the Americas. It is found in moist, shady habitats, such as tropical rainforests, woodlands, and along streams.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Alsophila lepifera has small, yellow-green flowers that are clustered in a spike. Its seeds are small, black and round. The seedlings have two or three long, thin leaves that are light green in color.
Cultivation and Propagation
Alsophila lepifera is a terrestrial fern native to Japan. It prefers moist, humus-rich, well-drained soils in part shade. Propagate by division of clumps or by spores.
