Description
Alsophila emilei (also called Emile's Tree Fern, among many other common names) is a small, evergreen, terrestrial fern native to tropical Africa, Asia, and Australia. It has delicate, light green fronds that are divided into many narrow segments. It grows in moist, shady areas, such as under trees and in rock crevices.
Cultivation and Propagation
Alsophila emilei is a fern native to South America. It is an easy-to-grow fern that can be propagated from spores or division. To propagate from spores, collect the spores from the underside of the fronds and sow them on a moist, sterile medium. To propagate by division, carefully dig up the plant and divide the rhizomes into sections, each with a few fronds. Plant the divisions in moist, well-drained soil and keep them moist until they are established.
Where to Find Alsophila emilei
Alsophila emilei can be found in tropical and subtropical regions, particularly in India, Southeast Asia, and parts of Africa.
