Clethra sumatrana (also called Sumatran sweet pepperbush, among many other common names) is a deciduous shrub native to Southeast Asia. It typically grows in moist, acidic soils in open woodlands, swamps, and along the edges of streams and rivers. It has small, fragrant white flowers and can reach heights of up to 8 feet.
