Licania velutina (also called Velvet Licania, among many other common names) is an evergreen shrub native to Central and South America. It has a spreading habit and can reach up to 1.8 m in height. Its leaves are alternate, simple, and ovate to lanceolate in shape. This plant is found in tropical and subtropical moist forests, and in wet and dry forests.
