                        Description
                        
                            Salacia quadrangulata (also called 'Square Stemmed Salacia', among many other common names) is a shrub native to India, Sri Lanka, and the Andaman Islands. It grows in evergreen forests, and is characterized by its opposite, ovate leaves and its yellowish-white flowers.                         
                     
                                
                                    
                        Uses & Benefits
                        
                            Salacia quadrangulata is used as an ornamental plant and as a medicinal plant. Its leaves and bark are used to treat fever, headaches, and digestive problems. It is also used as a food source, as its fruits are edible.
