                        Description
                        
                            Salacia phuquocensis (also called 'Phu Quoc Salacia', among many other common names) is a shrub native to India, Sri Lanka, and the Andaman Islands. It grows in evergreen forests, and is characterized by its opposite, ovate leaves and its yellowish-white flowers.                         
                     
                                
                                    
                        Uses & Benefits
                        
                            Salacia phuquocensis is used in traditional medicine to treat diabetes and other metabolic disorders, as well as to improve digestion and reduce inflammation. It is also used as an ornamental plant in gardens.

                            Flower: Small, white flowers. Seed: Tiny, black seeds. Seedlings: Thin, green stems with small, yellowish green leaves.                        
                     
                                
                
                
                                    
                        Cultivation and Propagation
                        
                            Salacia phuquocensis is a slow-growing, evergreen shrub that can reach heights of up to 2 metres. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Propagation is best done by cuttings, which should be taken from semi-ripe wood in late summer or early autumn.
