It is a low-growing plant with long, narrow leaves and small, white flowers. It is found in moist, shady areas, such as along streams and in forests.

The flower of Microtropis pyramidalis is a small, white, star-shaped flower with five petals. The seed is a small, black, round seed. The seedlings are small, dark green, and have two, long, pointed cotyledons.
