Description
Wahlenbergia violacea (also called Violet Bellflower, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to Australia, New Zealand, and New Caledonia. It is found in grassland, shrubland, and open woodlands. It has a creeping habit, with small, narrow, oval-shaped leaves and violet-blue flowers.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Wahlenbergia violacea has white, star-shaped flowers with five petals and a yellow centre. The seeds are small and black. The seedlings have long, narrow leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Wahlenbergia violacea is a hardy, evergreen perennial that grows in clumps and produces white, bell-shaped flowers in summer. It is best grown in full sun to partial shade in well-drained soil. Propagate by division in spring or autumn. It can also be propagated from seed.
