Description
Lysipomia subpeltata (also called Subpeltate Lysipomia, among many other common names) is an annual herb in the bellflower family. It is native to the southeastern United States, where it is found in the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. It grows in moist, sandy soils in open woods, meadows, and roadsides.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flowers of Lysipomia subpeltata are small and white. The seeds are small, black and oval-shaped. The seedlings are slender and have small, oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Lysipomia subpeltata is a perennial herbaceous plant that is native to the tropical regions of Central and South America. It can be propagated from seed or cuttings. Seeds should be sown in a well-draining, sandy soil mix and kept moist until germination. Cuttings should be taken from healthy, mature plants and rooted in a moist soil mix. The plant prefers partial shade and should be kept in temperatures between 65-75°F (18-24°C).
