Description
Syrrhopodon kilaueae (also called Kilauea Spike-moss, among many other common names) is a species of spike-moss in the family Selaginellaceae. It is native to Hawaii, and is found in tropical and subtropical moist montane forests. It is a small, green plant with obtuse leaves and a creeping habit.

The flower of Syrrhopodon kilaueae is small and white, with a yellow center. The seed is a small, dark brown, oval-shaped seed. The seedling has a single, thin, light green stem with small, light green leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Syrrhopodon kilaueae can be propagated by division or by sowing spores. It prefers moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil in partial shade. It is tolerant of a wide range of temperatures and can survive temperatures as low as -15°C (5°F). It is relatively drought tolerant once established.
