Description
Guzmania ferruginea (also called 'Rusty Guzmania', among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the family Bromeliaceae. It is an epiphytic bromeliad, with a creeping rhizome and flowers that are yellow. It is native to Costa Rica, where it grows in moist forests and along streams.

Cultivation and Propagation
Guzmania ferruginea is an epiphytic bromeliad that grows in partial shade. It prefers moist, well-drained soil. Propagation is done by division of the clumps or by seed. Plant the clumps in the spring, about 4 inches deep and 4 inches apart. Seeds should be planted in the spring in a well-drained, sandy soil.
