Description
Brachythecium nitidissimum (also called Shiny Brachythecium, among many other common names) is a moss species found in Japan, Korea, China, and the Russian Far East. It is a small, tufted moss with a short stem and a few leaves. It grows in moist, shady habitats, such as woodlands, forests, and grasslands.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Brachythecium nitidissimum has small, white flowers with four petals, and its seeds are small and black. Its seedlings have narrow, linear leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Brachythecium nitidissimum can be propagated through division of the rhizomes or by spore sowing. It prefers moist, well-drained soils and partial shade. It can tolerate full sun but will require more frequent watering.
