Description
Asplenium aureum (also called Golden Spleenwort, among many other common names) is a fern species native to South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. It is an epiphyte, meaning it grows on other plants, and is found in moist tropical forests. It has a creeping rhizome and fronds that are pinnate-pinnatifid and can reach up to 1 meter in length.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Asplenium aureum has small, yellowish-green flowers. Its seeds are small and dark brown in color. Its seedlings are small and have long, narrow leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Asplenium aureum is a terrestrial fern that prefers partial shade and moist, well-drained soils. It can tolerate some drought. Propagation is by spores, which should be sown on a sterile, moist medium and kept in a warm, humid environment until germination occurs.
