Description
Sinocarum filicinum (also called fern-like sinocarum, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Apiaceae family. It is native to the Mediterranean region and can be found in dry grasslands, rocky slopes and other open habitats. It has a basal rosette of pinnate leaves and a stem with white flowers.
Uses & Benefits
Sinocarum filicinum is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and parks. It is also used as a medicinal plant for treating various ailments such as fever, cough, cold, and skin diseases.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Sinocarum filicinum is white and bell-shaped. The seed is small and black. The seedlings are thin and have a single stem.
Cultivation and Propagation
Sinocarum filicinum is a hardy perennial that is easy to propagate from seed. Sow the seeds in the spring in a sunny location. The seeds should be planted in well-drained soil and kept moist. Once the seedlings have emerged, thin them out to allow for adequate spacing between plants. The plants will reach a mature height of up to 2 feet and should be spaced at least 12 inches apart. Once established, the plants will require little maintenance and can be left to grow without additional care.
