Description
Seseli sandbergiae (also called Sandberg's seseli, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Apiaceae family. It is native to the Mediterranean region and can be found in dry grasslands, rocky slopes and other open habitats. It has a basal rosette of pinnate leaves and a stem with white flowers.
Uses & Benefits
Seseli sandbergiae is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and parks. It is also used as a medicinal plant for treating various ailments such as fever, cough, cold, and skin diseases.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Seseli sandbergiae is white and has five petals. The seed is a small, round nut. The seedlings have a single stem with a pair of opposite leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Seseli sandbergiae is a hardy perennial that is easy to propagate from seed. Sow the seeds in the spring in a sunny location. The seeds should be planted in well-drained soil and kept moist. Once the seedlings have emerged, thin them out to allow for adequate spacing between plants. The plants will reach a mature height of up to 2 feet and should be spaced at least 12 inches apart. Once established, the plants will require little maintenance and can be left to grow without additional care.
Where to Find Seseli sandbergiae
Seseli sandbergiae can be found in the temperate regions of Europe, including the UK, and also in parts of Asia.
