Description
Prangos abieticola (also called 'Abieticola Prangos', among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant native to Turkey. It is a small, evergreen shrub with small, ovate leaves and white flowers. It prefers dry, rocky habitats, such as hillsides and rocky slopes.
Uses & Benefits
Prangos abieticola is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and as a houseplant. It is also used to make herbal teas and as an ingredient in perfumes.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Prangos abieticola has white flowers with five petals and a yellow center. The seeds are small, round, and black. The seedlings have two long, narrow, green leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Prangos abieticola is a perennial herbaceous plant. It is propagated by seed or division. Seeds should be sown in spring in a cold frame. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in the summer. Division can be done in spring or autumn. Larger divisions can be planted out direct into their permanent positions. We recommend covering the soil with a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost in winter.
