Description

Liquidambar chinensis (also called Chinese Sweetgum, among many other common names) is a species of deciduous tree in the family Altingiaceae. It is native to eastern China, from Sichuan to Fujian. It grows in open forests and shrublands at elevations of 500–2,000 m.

Uses & Benefits

Liquidambar chinensis is used as an ornamental plant and also as a medicinal plant. It is also used as a source of timber and fuel.

Flower, Seeds and Seedlings

Liquidambar chinensis has small, yellow flowers that are clustered in a terminal inflorescence. The seeds are small, black and shiny. The seedlings are erect with lanceolate leaves.
