Hemigraphis sumatrensis (also called Purple Ivy, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to Southeast Asia. It is an evergreen, woody-stemmed, creeping plant with small, ovate, dark green leaves, which are reddish-purple underneath. It grows in moist, shady areas, such as along riverbanks and in rainforests.
