Description
Hemigraphis sordida (also called Purple Ivy, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to Southeast Asia. It is an evergreen, woody-stemmed, creeping plant with small, ovate, dark green leaves, which are reddish-purple underneath. It grows in moist, shady areas, such as along riverbanks and in rainforests.

The flower of Hemigraphis sordida is a small white flower with a yellow center. The seed is a small, dark brown, oval-shaped seed. The seedlings are small and thin with a light green color.
Cultivation and Propagation
Hemigraphis sordida can be propagated by division or cuttings. It prefers a moist, well-drained soil and partial shade. It is best grown in a container with a good quality potting mix. Water regularly and fertilize monthly during the growing season. Prune back in late winter or early spring to encourage new growth.
